For more than 57 years, Meals on Wheels Central Coast has helped thousands of Central Coast seniors and people with disability to flourish, through the provision of affordable meals, social activities and a helping hand.
Member for Gosford, Liesl Tesch MP thanked Meals on Wheels Central Coast’s ‘army’ of dedicated volunteers for helping thousands of Coasties each day, during a recent visit to the organisation’s Woy Woy Community Restaurant.
“Meals on Wheels Central Coast helps the community by providing nutritious meals at a great price and leveraging the power of a meal to bring people together,” she said.
The Meals on Wheels service is delivered by volunteers from across the Coast with no delivery fee, Monday to Friday.
“Best of all, every time Meals on Wheels’ caring volunteers turn up on peoples’ doorsteps with delicious, affordable, quality meals they always bring with them generous servings of enthusiasm, care, a helping hand and a listening ear.
“For people who are looking for a nourishing meal at a great price from a trusted service, I encourage them to get in touch with Meals on Wheels Central Coast.”
Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP thanked the amazing volunteers at Meals on Wheels Central Coast.
“It was great to be able to help Meals on Wheels Central Coast during National Meals on Wheels Day," he said.
“This fantastic service provides nutritious meals, and support to thousands of people on the Central Coast. “My thanks and appreciation go to all the marvellous volunteers."
Community Restaurants offer more than just a meal
Across the coast each week, community members in need of a fantastic social outing can attend one of three Meals on Wheels Community Restaurants across the coast. Meals on Wheels Central Coast’s Community Restaurants are held in Bateau Bay (Tuggerah Lakes Community Centre), Woy Woy (Yaringaa Building, Peninsula Community Centre) and at Tuggerah (The Gathering Hub at 6/10 Pioneer Ave).
Delicious morning tea, a hot lunch, dessert, and beverages are served. Volunteers are always in need.
Meals on Wheels Central Coast operations manager Leesa O’Keefe said the lifeblood of the organisation are its volunteers.
“Volunteers are welcome and there is always the need for an extra pair of helping hands, whether that is delivering meals to clients, assisting in our community restaurants, providing social support, admin or picking and packing in our warehouse.
