Entertainment precinct

PROSPECT is set to become an entertainment hub with the arrival of Amalgamated Holdings Group’s 122-room Atura Hotel, the revamped Blacktown Drive-in, the Wet’n’Wild theme park joining the established The Royal Cricketers Hotel. 

Entry in US market

AFTER seven years and $4 million in R&D, Global Orthopaedic Technology, at Bella Vista, has won entry into the US markets for its Paragon innovative hip replacement following approval by the American Federal Food and Drug Administration – but yet to be approved in Australia. The company, with 60 staff, has manufacturing facilities at Bella Vista and Seven Hills.

Nepean Belle sold

JOHN and Helen Wakeling, owners of the Nepean Belle paddleboat, which has been cruising the Nepean River for 31 years, have sold the business to Carol and Chris Bennett, who live in the Lower Blue Mountains. A DA has been lodged to create a floating cruise terminal and paddle boats.

Vermeer leases space

VERMEER Australia has leased an office warehouse of 2827 square metres, at 1 Tyrone Place, Erskine Park, from Bootes Management for a 5 year term at a net rent of $100 per square metre.

Plan repealed

PENRITH City Council has repealed the Erskine Business Park Development Contributions Plan 2008 as facilities required to be funded by the plan have been delivered.

Courthouse closed

THE Penrith Courthouse will be closed for six months from year-end for a $4.2 million revamp. Cases will be held in Parramatta and Campbelltown.

$29 million for roads

COUNCIL has allocated $29 million to upgrade, repair and maintain its road network in the 2013/2014 financial year beginning with major road reconstruction and upgrade works to 14 roads in Liverpool over the next few months.

New services firm

PETER Ristevski has sold a 25 per cent stake in his $900,000 a year, Mack Partners accountancy firm to aggregator, Chan & Naylor, and will trade as C&N Liverpool. Deloitte matched C&N’s price but wanted 100 per cent control.

Sold for $1.6 million

PRIVATETRUST Schlederer Nominees has sold a 289-square-metre commercial building, opposite the Chester Square Shopping Centre, to a private Asian investor, for $1.6 million

Start-Up award

LUXURY Furniture, at Punchbowl, has been awarded the Product Business of the Year, at the 2013 Australian Start-Up Awards.

Ahead of schedule

NSW Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian 11.4-kilometre South West Rail Link was one year ahead of schedule and more than $100 million under budget. It it is due to open in 2015.

Deputy GM sacked

MATT Daniel, Liverpool City Council deputy general manager, has been sacked for  reportedly failing to declare he was an undischarged bankrupt.

Re-elected president

ANNE Parnham has been re-elected as president, of the Campbelltown Chamber of Commerce.

Dyldam’s $8.1 million deal

PARRAMATTA-based developer, Dyldam, has bought a 7000-square-metre warehouse and three-level office facility, in Silverwater, for $8.1 million from kitchen and home appliance retailer, Winning Appliances, which will lease the property until March 2004.

MP’s new position

FEDERAL Parramatta MP Julie Owens has been appointed Labor’s parliamentary secretary for small business and education spokeswoman.

Logistics firm leases DP

Logistics has leased a 5382-square-metre warehouse, in Grand Avenue, Rosehill, from the GPT Group for a 5 year term at a rent of $115 per square metre.

Office building for sale

93 GEORGE Street, a 7-storey office building in the corporate sector of the Parramatta CBD, is on the market. The Department of Aging, Disability and Homecare occupies approximately 8 1per cent of the 7127-square-metre building, which a s a current income is $2.7 million per annum approximately.

Energy plant for council

PARRAMATTA City Council is seeking proposal for the delivery of a central energy plant to serve six development sites and public domain at its Parramatta square project .

Agreement with Beirut

PARRAMATTA City Council has resolved to establish a goodwill agreement with Beirut, in Labanon, to be based upon economic opportunity and to the benefit the communities of both cities, Portal tender awarded ABERGELDIE Contractors Pty Ltd has won the tender for the construction of the Lennox Bridge portals and associated works, in Church Street, Parramatta, with a tender of $4.9 million, excluding GST.
