The boardwalk will allow beachgoers to stroll from Terrigal to the Haven in a matter of minutes instead having to scale the dangerous headland or climb across the rocks.
It will also ease parking by allowing visitors to park at the Haven and walk into the town centre.
The boardwalk has the potential to become an icon of the Central Coast’s most popular beach resort and will have a positive effect on business.
The town has struggled against a deserved reputation of being a hard place to park at times, especially on the weekends and during holidays.
Central Coast Council contractors have started surveying the boardwalk route between The Haven and The Esplanade.
Works include surveying the position and level of all site features, pavement levels, property boundaries and all aboveground services.
The detailed investigation and design process is expected to take 10 weeks.
