STAGE 2 LACHLAN’S LINE

Expressions of interest called

URBANGROWTH NSW is calling for expressions of interest for a second stage land release at the Lachlan’s Line urban village project at Macquarie Park in Sydney’s North which will provide homes for around 5,000 residents.

The latest land release includes two high density residential “superlots” sold together and an affordable housing offering which must be purchased by a community housing provider, or a private developer in a joint venture or similar partnership arrangement with a community housing provider.

Architects Bates Smart have prepared the concept design for the two high density residential sites which have the potential for around 172 apartments and the third site for around 96 affordable housing apartments.

The sites are the second land release to be put up for sale within the nine hectares of former industrial land with Greenland Australia awarded the tender for the first development site, a 1.2hectare, mixed-use retail and apartment precinct.

Matthew Beggs, Head of Western Sydney Projects at UrbanGrowth NSW, said Lachlan’s Line will create a vibrant new residential neighbourhood in the fast-growing Macquarie Park corridor.

“Macquarie Park is considered one of the most sought after residential development locations in Sydney. Lachlan’s Line is ideally positioned to capitalise on opportunities such as transport, employment, education, and the high level of demand for quality residential apartments within the Macquarie Park area,” Mr Beggs said.

“We are expecting strong interest from local and international developers who can demonstrate the capability to deliver outcomes in line with our vision for Lachlan’s Line.”

As the site’s masterplan developer, UrbanGrowth NSW is coordinating the planning, civil infrastructure, and public amenity, including the delivery of roads, public art, and the Lachlan’s Line pedestrian and cycleway ‘helix’ bridge which will link the site to North Ryde train station.

The two high density residential sites and the affordable housing offering will be subject to separate approvals by City of Ryde or the Joint Regional Planning Panel.

Expressions of interest close at 3pm on July 29, 2016.
