The upgrades are funded under the Transport Access Program (TAP) which aims to ensure that public transport is accessible and secure for all members of the public.
This is a major win for the local community who have campaigned for better access to railway stations over several years.
The upgrade at Ourimbah was subject of a successful community campaign to protect the local war memorial which was to be partly demolished under initial plans for the station upgrade.
“These improvements couldn’t have been achieved without the community, signing petitions, writing to the Minister, attending rallies.”
“I welcome these upgrades and look forward to celebrating the completion of upgrades at Lisarow and Narara which are still under construction.”
“I continue to press for work to start on Tuggerah Station Lifts and expect draft plans for this work to be available shortly.”
