With unwavering determination, the young athletes from Warnervale highlighted their prowess on the field, claiming the prestigious championship title.

The tournament's knockout format meant that each match was a must-win scenario, and Warnervale Public School proved to be relentless contenders.

Their path to the championship included a series of intense battles against other formidable schools, showcasing their resilience and adaptability on the field.

Guided by their coach, Mr Tom Sheean, the students played eight games to secure the victory. Through exceptional teamwork, expert ball handling, and a commitment to defence, Warnervale consistently outperformed their opponents.

One of the standout moments of the tournament was the semi-final clash between Warnervale and a tough opponent from Newcastle.

The match was a nail-biter, with both teams demonstrating incredible skill and determination. In the end, Warnervale emerged victorious, securing their place in the championship match.

The final itself was a spectacle, as Warnervale faced Hammondville Public School. The atmosphere was electric as Warnervale took a busload of students to support their school mates.

The final was a testament to the talent and resilience of Warnervale Public School's rugby league team.

They displayed impeccable sportsmanship throughout the game. The game was very tense as the teams went try for try.

Down 22-20 with 10 seconds left on the clock, the team found a way through and scored. The final whistle marked the culmination of months of hard work and dedication, as Warnervale Public School emerged victorious with a score of 26-22.

Principal Honi Faasisilla said: "The Warnervale PS Rugby League team can be immensely proud of their State
Championship title this year. Their commitment to training, and the distance of travel for some games leading up to the grand final that so many families supported and then to finish with a bus of enthusiastic supporters travelling to the grand final to cheer the team on shows what this meant not only to the team but the wider school community.”
