College opens premises

THE Bedford College opened its Norwest campus in January offering business, management and children’s services similar to those at its Glebe campus.

Most valuable brand

PENRITH Panthers has been named Australia’s most valuable sports brand for 2013, valued at $46.2 million. A Brand Finance and Landor Associates study found the club finished ahead of AFL’s Collingwood club, $39.1 million, and the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, $34.5 million.

$82.5 million purchase

A REFURBISHED food court, new entrance points and upgraded toilet facilities will be part of the proposed changes Haben property fund manager has earmarked under its $82.5 million purchase of Centro Seven Hills. Construction is planned for May. Expansion of its Woodcroft Village Shopping Centre will not begin until 2015.

High-rise towers

THE Hills Shire Council has received a DA for a 20-and 21- storey residential towers on the Crane Road Precinct, representing 378 apartments and parking for 470 vehicles. The proposal includes commercial and retail space and a plaza between the towers.

Approval for $65m bridge

THE NSW government has given approval for the controversial $65 million Windsor Bridge, overriding residents’ fears that it would destroy the heritage of Thompson Square.

Entry to NSW market

MELBOURNE-based Villawood properties expects to launch its first Sydney project in the coming months, called Skylands, neat the new Schofields train station.

Aged-care facility

HEALTH and aged care provider, Domain Principal Group, which has 55 aged-care homes across Australia, plans to open a facility in Quakers Hill this year, as part of its plans to open others across the nation.

Salamat relocates premises

SALMAT Mediaforce has leased an 8000-square-metre purpose-built facility, at Prestons, on a 10-year lease reported to be between $125 and $130 a square metre. The company was formerly at Moorebank

Two sites ruled out

THE Moorebank Intermodal Company has ruled out developing two competing freight terminals at its proposed $800 million Moorebank development, a controversial project in the Liverpool area The company said a single terminal could be developed across its site and that of the Sydney Intermodal Terminal Alliance’s proposal to build its own terminal on private land next to the MIC’s proposed site.

Warwick Farm

GAZCORP Pty Ltd has approval for retail outlet centre on the 14,498-square-metre site of the former Orange Grove Factory Outlets centre, at Viscount Place, Warwick Farm. The $3 million plus centre would create 400 full-time jobs once in operation.

Nine-storey project in CBD

A NINW-storey mixed-use building containing 50 residential units is proposed, at 50-60 Macquarie Street, in the Liverpool CBD. Two levels of underground parking are proposed. Construction would involve the demolition of a single-storey building on the site.

Office site secured

AUSTRALIAN Ports NSW Logistics has secured a 4613-square-metre office and warehouse facility, in Marigold Street, Revesby, at an annual rental of $405,944 a year for five years., with a five-year option. It is close to the M5 and M7.

Strong leasing market

“WE believe that 2014 will see a strong leasing market in Sydney’s south west and importantly we will see incentives come back to 3 per cent to 5 per cent in some markets,” said Alex Jaafar, of Knight Frank.

Workers club for sale

THE former Parramatta Workers Club, in George Street, Parramatta, is for sale. The 4100-square-metre premises sits on a 13,409 site, which is zoned for community activities, functions centres, entertain. Tenders close March 14.ment facilities and registered clubs.

Council executive resigns

SCOTT Gregg, director, property development, with Parramatta City Council, has resigned to take up the position of director, of the office of commercial and estate development, at the University of Western Sydney.

$26 million stadium upgrade

PARRAMATTA City Council has received a DA for alterations and additions to the northern, southern and eastern stands at Parramatta Stadium to increase the seating capacity together with public domain works. The estimated cost of the work is $26 million. The application is to be determined by the Western Sydney Joint Regional Planning Panel.

$4.5 million mall upgrade

REFURBISHMENT of the Church Street Mall (opposite the Parramatta town hall) includes demolition, tree removal, removal of existing amphitheatre/playground and construction of public domain works including three kiosks, two cafes, a water feature, landscaping and signage. The estimated cost of the work is $4.5 million. The proposal is defined as Integrated Development as an approval is required under the Heritage Act 1977.

$20 million proposal

THE University of Western Sydney proposes the erection of the 3-storey science teaching and research building, on its campus at Rydalmere, at an estimated cost of $20 million. The proposal will be determined by the Western Sydney Joint Regional Planning Panel.

$35 million project

PARRAMATTA City Council is considering a DA for the 30-storey mixed use project including 425 apartments, 317square metres of retail and 715 public car spaces over six levels, at 189 Macquarie Street, in the CBD, at an estimated construction cost of $145 million. The application will be determined by the Western Sydney Joint Regional Planning Panel.
