THE State Government plans to invest $23M into Surf Life Saving NSW (SLSNSW) to provide new rescue equipment for coastal safety.

The investment will include new rescue vehicles, jet skis, Emergency Response Beacons, and communication upgrades throughout the state.

The Surf Club Facilities Program will receive an additional $5M for expansion, providing more facilities for renovation and improvement.

This funding commitment is critical given the high number of rescues and drownings experienced this summer. The investment will include 22 new rescue vehicles, 68 new jet skis, 40 additional Emergency Response Beacons, radio communication upgrades and emergency management staff permanently based in Regional NSW.

This will make a significant difference to the equipment and resources relied on by the 76,000 SLSNSW members.
