New events app
MOSMAN locals can keep up to date with the latest Council and community events with the new Mosman Events App. The new App makes it easy to view or search all Mosman events, share events with friends and add those you want to attend to your calendar. You can also view all Council venues available to book for your next event. The App is available to download via the Google Play and Apple App stores.
Funding for innovators
TWO St Leonard’s based medical innovators have received funding under the NSW Government’s Medical Devices Fund. PAFtec Australia Pty Ltd has received $2,196,000 for the development of CleanSpace™ Respirators, the smallest and lightest powered respirators in the world. AllVascular Holdings Pty Ltd received $1,750,000 for a novel Arterial & Venous Access System (AVAS) that allows clinicians to isolate the liver when delivering anti-cancer agents, minimising whole body side effects and reducing treatment time.
New animals for Taronga Park
THE population of Mosman grew by at least five in December, with Taronga Zoo taking delivery of two Californian sea-lions and the onsite births of two Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys and a White Rhinoceros calf. Taronga is being revitalised as part of a $150 million Centenary Master Plan.
Markets to continue in 2016
MOSMAN Council has confirmed the continuation of monthly markets for the ensuing year, beginning in February. The markets will be held 8:00am to 3:00pm on the first Saturday of each month and boast offer up to 150 art and craft stalls, with gourmet food, musical entertainment and lively atmosphere.
Comings and goings at North Sydney
INTERNATIONAL engineering and technical services giant Jacobs will be moving into one of North Sydney’s most iconic new commercial developments at 177 Pacific Hwy North Sydney. Meanwhile, AGL Energy is leaving its current headquarters in North Sydney for a brand new office complex at 200 George Street in Sydney’s CBD, currently being built by Mirvac.
Indian Fusion opens
INDIAN Fusion Restaurant and Bar has opened a third restaurant in Sydney’s north – the latest in Lane Cove. With locations at Turramurra and Pennant Hills, the business is quickly developing a reputation for hosting events for the “who’s who” of the region’s emerging Subcontinental community.
Northside Radio 99.3
COMMUNITY radio broadcaster Northside Radio has received funding from the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnerships Program to proceed with Stage 2 of improvements. The funding recommendations were lodged by Member for Willoughby Gladys Berejiklian earlier this year.
Mosman’s hi-tech parking
MOSMAN Council is looking to install new parking technology that will enable drivers to find the best available car parking spaces at the click of a button. The new technology will mean residents can easily check on-street and council car park availability via an app or the Council website before they even leave home. “The community has told us that parking is a key concern for them and that they can end up driving around for an extended period, adding to traffic congestion,” said Council’s Director of Environment and Planning Craig Covich. “This technology is exciting and offers a real-time solution by providing the community access to occupancy data, however it’s important to note that the information will not be used for enforcement purposes.”
