Known as 1 Denison Street, the Winten Property Group, is seeking to modify an existing DA consent for the site, to allow additional retail activation, inclusion of ancillary media production and broadcasting spaces, landscape and public domain upgrades to Berry Square and improved pedestrian access through site links and laneways.
It would also like to increase the building height to bring it up to 39 storeys.
If approved, it will become the tallest building in the CBD.
“We’ve just completed a capacity and land use study which explores ways to increase commercial capacity in the CBD and this increased floor space and height of this development will be consistent with the height that could be acceptable under our new study,” said Joseph Hill, North Sydney Council’s Director City Strategy.
“Our CBD is part of the global economic corridor and Council wants to enhance its presence, with inspiring developments and projects that will contribute to the innovative culture emerging in the centre.”
Under the plans, currently being assessed by the Department of Planning and Environment, there will be a loss of 40 on-street parking spaces and Council is seeking to have them returned to the CBD within the actual development.
