COAST'S GOLDEN HIGHWAY

NorthConnex ushers an era of posperity
DALLAS SHERRINGHAM
THE completion of the massive NorthConnex freeway link will be paved with gold for Central Coast businesses according to leading business figures.
It will be the launch of a major new era of prosperity for the region, allowing it to finally reach its true potential.

NorthConnex will improve journey times for Central Coast motorists which will avoid up to 21 sets of traffic lights on Pennant Hills Road and up to 40 traffic lights for those who would normally travel along the Pacific Highway after turning off at Wahroonga.

An RMS spokesperson said the new motorway would also allow freight to travel from Newcastle to Melbourne without a single set of traffic lights, which meant faster and more efficient journeys and a boost to the State and national economies.

This is turn would slash freight times to and from the coast.

“NorthConnex will remove 5000 trucks daily from Pennant Hills Road, returning local streets back to the local community,” the spokesperson said.

“Motorists will enjoy safer and more reliable journeys with the capacity to carry more than 100,000 vehicles a day.”
Matthew Wales of the Peninsular Chamber of Commerce is hugely excited about the link’s potential to promote growth on the coast.

“I don’t think people fully realise just what a difference it will make for the coast,” he said.

“Not only will visitors who traditionally go south for weekend getaways or their holidays, turn to the coast because it will be much easier to reach, but it will also dramatically improve life for commuters who travel to the western suburbs or into the Sydney CBD every day by car.

“The NorthConnex will also greatly assist businesses on the coast because it will slash travel time between the coast and Sydney. There will be no more infamous Pennant Hills Road stop start traffic jams. This will assist with delivery times, the transfer of goods and will build business confidence”

Mr Wales said the coast should see a new era of development when the link opens because the coast’s proximity to Sydney will make it a very attractive place to live.

“Young families who want to live by the beach but be close to the city will now choose our region,” he said.”The coast has so much to offer as a place to visit and live so it is only natural it will now progress of the link.”

The Central Coast Real Estate industry is set for a renewed interest in the coast as an overflow for Sydney’s ever growing population.

“We expect the coast to undergo a significant boost when NorthConnex opens,” a spokesman said.

“Areas close to the M1 such as Kariong, Ourimbah, Somersby, and West Gosford and nearby areas should all see growth.”
