This transformational project is a collaboration between the Central Coast Local Health District and the University of Newcastle (UON) Central Coast, and will focus on providing and researching an integrated model of care, which empowers the patient, clinicians and researchers to work as a team, to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals as well as the whole community.
Jointly funded by the UON and the NSW and Federal Governments, the state-of-the-art teaching and research facility to be constructed as part of the expansive redevelopment of the Gosford Hospital, will create a seamless link between the region’s health workforce, health researchers and the health workforce of the future, and will seed development of new degrees and courses to keep our workforce agile, and able to meet the changing health needs of our region, nation and the world.
A collaborative multi-agency Medical Taskforce has also been established, chaired by Member for Roberston Ms Lucy Wicks, to capitalise on this unique opportunity to lure new investment and business, drive regional innovation, and create more jobs for the Central Coast community.
