WORK ON FORGOTTON STREETS

Upgrades at Peninsula
LONG forgotten as progress bypassed them, several of the Peninsula’s most antiquated streets are finally about to receive major upgrades.
Works are about to start this month on upgrades at Ryans Rd Umina Beach and Davis St Booker Bay.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester visited the site recently with Federal Member for Robertson Lucy Wicks

Mr Chester said $1.65M had been approved by the Australian Government to fund both projects, which would support the region’s economy and lifestyle.

“Getting on with both projects is going to help Central Coast residents, visitors and businesses get around the region safely and efficiently. Lucy Wicks pledged at the last election to make sure these upgrades happened and today we are here to confirm they have been signed, sealed and, next month, started,” Mr Chester said.

Ms Wicks said the upgrades would improve the road pavement, drainage and pedestrian facilities.

Construction on the projects is due to start this month and be completed by mid-2018. The Australian Government has committed $1.65M and Central Coast Council $1M to fund the two projects as part of the Robertson Road Upgrade Package.

Murray St at Booker Bay is also receiving a $1.1M upgrade by Central Coast Council, while work is underway to fix Lone Pine Av at Umina Beach between Rabaul Av and Ocean Beach Rd with $213,852 in funding from the Australian Government’s Roads to Recovery program.
