Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Scot MacDonald said the scheme had recovered more than 367 million containers across NSW and had been fully embraced by the Central Coast community.
“The Bateau Bay reverse vending machine has received more than 4 million containers and is one of the most popular sites in NSW,” he said.
“Communities across NSW have also embraced Return and Earn as a fundraising opportunity for local groups and schools, and even for the Tathra Bushfire Appeal where more than $8000 was raised in donations from people using reverse vending machines.
“New donation partners on the reverse vending machines from this week include: Red Cross, WIRES Animal Rescue, Take 3 for the Sea and Clean Up Australia as well as seven local Central Coast groups across 12 machines.
“Any Central Coast groups wanting to fundraise through the scheme can collect donations of eligible containers through their networks, or can apply to be listed as a donation partner on a reverse vending machine if one is nearby and they meet the eligibility criteria.”
