The project will assist RYSS in their work with at risk youth to divert them from the criminal justice system and reduce instances of anti-social behaviour.
Federal Member for Robertson, Lucy Wicks MP said this funding will help RYSS to assist marginalised and at-risk youth by building their skills, independence and resilience.
“The Central Coast Youth Hub initiative will develop a new facility in the heart of Gosford CBD where RYSS can provide innovative solutions for families and work with high-risk young people,” Ms Wicks said.
“It aims to improve mental health outcomes for our at-risk young people and reduce youth homelessness through proactive case management and more accessible service delivery.”
The project aims to help up to 1,500 young people in our region aged between 12 – 24.
Kim McLoughry, CEO of RYSS said The Central Coast Youth Hub will deliver a unique centre to connect young people with the help they need.
“The project aims to support people who may be at high risk of becoming involved with the criminal justice system, reduce reliance on welfare and support the wellbeing, resilience and employability of young people.
The key elements of this project include a youth friendly co-designed place, the ‘Safe Haven Cafe’, specific qualified staff to support early intervention programs, casework, and spaces for other programs and training services.
The RYSS Youth Hub is expected to be operational by April, 2022.
