Commissioner Alex Barrell commenced his new role in April this year and has spent 30 years working in emergency and rescue service organisations.
Marine Rescue Norah Head was a successful applicant in the Community Building Partnership program receiving a $65,000 grant from David Harris MP.
The grant went towards a new custom branded vehicle, capable of towing their rescue vessel to required locations and transport crew to other bases.
Deputy Unit Commander Rodger Bruce spoke about plans on how to improve the rescue facility for all members involved at Norah Head.
Commissioner Alex Barrell is looking forward to leading the Marine Rescue NSW into the future and importantly with the industry partners and supporting the boating community.
“The summer period was our busiest on record and this increased workload by our dedicated and tireless volunteers did not go unnoticed,
I’d like to acknowledge and thank our members for their unwavering commitment to saving lives on the water”.
"We are keen to grow our membership and bring new members into the unit and we are strongly connected through our network", Mr Alex Barrell said.
“I welcome Alex Barrell as the newly appointed Commissioner of Marine Rescue NSW and to share our beautiful waterways at Norah Head”, David Harris said.
“Volunteers at Norah Head Marine Rescue serve their community by responding to emergencies and other incidents on the water,” David Harris said.
