Council is creating a vibrant, flexible and sustainable recreation space that supports participation by the local community and ensures the facilities are frequently used.
Mulgoa Rise is part of the Stage 2 development of Glenmore Park that is home to 1,624 new dwellings and an estimated population of 4,600 people. The multipurpose fields will be the first new sporting fields in over 15 years in the Penrith area.
Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said the new multipurpose fields have the capacity to cater for a wide range of sports.
“The new multipurpose fields have been developed to provide a range of playing fields and associated infrastructure,” Cr Fowler said.
“Council supports the growth of sport and recreation in Penrith and these new fields will provide opportunities for sports to gain new members from across the community.
“No one sport or organisation has been identified as the end user group for these fields. Council has designed these fields to be accommodating to a wide range of users.”
The multipurpose fields at Mulgoa Rise are being developed in two stages. Stage one construction has commenced and it is anticipated that the grass coverage on the fields will be suitably established for activity in the winter season in 2015. Stage two includes the construction of an amenity building that will be available for the 2015/2016 summer season and the fields open for full use in the 2016 winter season.

Council will be holding an information session to provide options for field configurations for different sports. The meeting will be held at 5pm on Monday, November 24 in the Passadena Room at the Civic Centre.
Sporting clubs and associations need to register their interest for this meeting by calling Virginia Tuckerman on 4732 8092.
Sporting clubs and associations have until 5pm on Tuesday, December 16 to submit an expression of interest addressing the community benefit and management/governance criteria for the use of the fields.
