CENTRAL COAST MONTESSORI NUTURES GLOBAL MINDS
CENTRAL Coast Montessori School has announced the 15th annual Cultural Day, a milestone celebration of global learning and community.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, November 2, at the school grounds in Wamberal, and will highlight the rich and vibrant cultures of South America.
Cultural Day has long been a cornerstone of the school’s educational program, with each year dedicated to a different continent. The event provides students with an immersive and authentic experience, featuring traditional food, beverages, games, crafts, and live performances from talented cultural entertainers.
It’s a chance for students, families, and teachers to experience the richness of a continent as if stepping into it for the afternoon.
Throughout the year, students from ages 3 in preschool through to Year 6 study and prepare for Cultural Day, gaining valuable insights into the history, art, and customs of the featured continent.

In today’s world, where cultural understanding is more important than ever, this event plays acritical role in shaping children into compassionate, globally minded individuals. As Maria Montessori said: “The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind.” Cultural Day embodies this philosophy, giving our students the foundation to become the peacebuilders and leaders of tomorrow.
Dimitri Nicolaou, Principal of Central Coast Montessori, said: “Cultural Day offers our students the chance to engage meaningfully with global cultures, fostering both curiosity and compassion. Our focus on South America this year, combined with the joy of marking 15 years of this beloved tradition, makes it an especially memorable event for our community.”
The event provides a unique opportunity to witness how Montessori education promotes not only academic excellence but also global understanding and cultural appreciation.
Central Coast Montessori, located in Wamberal, NSW, is the first and only Montessori school on the Central Coast. The school provides a nurturing, child-centred learning environment for children from preschool through to Year 6, following the Montessori philosophy of self-directed learning, independence, and respect.

DREAM OF BEING A SUCCESSFUL DANCER
KYRA Johnson, from Avoca Beach is pursuing her lifelong dream of being a successful dancer and choreographer after being offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move to the United States to be a professional backup dancer.
Ms Johnson has been offered the opportunity by Bloc LA, a talent agency that provides dancers to the music industry in Los Angeles and across the United States.
Ms Johnson has been dancing since the age of two and has been involved with several dance studios in Australia including Art Dance Academy, Dance Energy and Milk Studios, as well as KCC elite hip hop Crew.
In 2024, Ms Johnson was the champion solo dancer at Danchello on the Gold Coast Queensland, a career highlight, and a testament to how skillful a dancer she is.
Federal Member for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid MP said: “Kyra is well on her way to becoming an international dancer-choreographer. Kyra has been offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue her dancing career in the USA, supporting pop stars and entertainers.
“If there is one feature of our region, I am sure of, it’s that the Central Coast community gets behind one of our own. “We’re all incredibly proud of how much you have achieved and cannot wait to see you continue to thrive, and your career flourish further in the United States.
“I wish you all the very best in the months ahead, I am blown away by the level of talent that we have on the Central Coast”, Dr Reid said.
