Rotaract is part of the global organisation, Rotary International that empowers young people aged between 18 - 30 to make a difference in their local communities and become leaders in business and community.
A graduate of WSROC’s Young Women’s Leadership Project, Krissie is a positive and inspirational person who has made a huge impact on the lives of the people around her.
She has been a member of the Crosslands Rotaract for seven years and always has a number of projects on the go, besides her day-to-day work as the Acting Service Coordinator at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope.
Krissie has been involved in dozens of projects during her time with Rotaract. She volunteered in Thailand earlier this year to help refurbish buildings and a playground at a local school and orphanage, both of which were being rebuilt after severe flooding had damaged the village.
She has also worked on education and literacy projects in Indigenous communities in rural NSW.
Her favourite project each year has always been the Splash for Cash charity swimathon for the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC).
This year she took to the water and swam 22 kilometres to raise more than $6,000 for the charity. She also coordinates additional fundraising swimathons for RIDBC around Australia.
Blacktown City Mayor, Councillor Len Robinson, said Krissie is such an inspiration as an employee and as an ambassador for Rotaract.
