Central Coast tourism industry unites at NSW visitor economy

INDUSTRY leaders and stakeholders came together at Gosford in November for the Business NSW Central Coast Visitor Economy Forum, held in Partnership with Gosford Erina Business Chamber.

The recent announcement of the NSW Government’s Visitor Economy Strategy outlined a bold vision and targets for NSW to be the premier visitor economy of the Asia-Pacific by 2030.

With this accelerated growth expected to provide a big economic windfall for regional communities ($44B) the forum focussed on exploring our region's potential to be a major economic driver in the state’s visitor economy and position the Central Coast as a premier national and international tourist destination.

Central Coast Mayor Lawrie McKinna officially opened the event, with keynote speeches from Central Coast Council CEO, David Farmer, Rachael Glendinning, Industry Relations Manager Tourism Australia and Hayley Peacock-Gower, Global Brand & Marketing Leader, Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner.

"To define our potential further, we were privileged to hear from a diverse group of expert panellists that shared compelling insights across amplifying our cultural tourism, enhancing the opportunity of new and future accommodation, and conferencing capabilities, creating unique experiences through collaboration, and maximising our nighttime economy," said Business NSW Regional Director, Scott Goold.

“This forum was a crucial step forward for the Central Coast. The level of collaboration and the quality of insights shared here will significantly enhance our efforts to position the region at the forefront of NSW tourism.

“It was inspiring to see so many industry leaders come together to focus on how we can leverage our strengths to boost our regional visitor economy.” Mr Goold said.

The momentum generated by this event is set to propel the Central Coast forward, ensuring long-term growth and prosperity for our region.
