John Symond to visit Holroyd for Chamber

JOHN Symond one of Australia’s first and successful mortgage brokers will be guest speaker at the Merrylands Chamber of Commerce Brekkie before Business being held at the Holroyd Centre, Wednesday, May 14.

“The Merrylands Chamber is very excited to have secured Mr Symonds for their first Brekkie before Business event,” said Mariya Gojan, Chairman, Merrylands Chamber of Commerce.

“Many people have been warmed by his charming manner, his unique approach to business and lured by his huge success in the financial world. We also understand this is his first visit to the Holroyd area in a long time.”

Symond was born in Crookwell, New South Wales and raised in Sydney, Australia. He was one of seven children and the son of Lebanese immigrant fruit shop owners, and regularly helped at his parents shop before and after school.

He attended 11 different schools, including Homebush Boys High School where he matriculated in 1965. After leaving school, Symond studied law and joined a firm in Bankstown where he learned conveyancing and specialized in property and finance.

He founded Aussie Home Loans in February 1992 and was able to fulfil his ambition. Symond was widely credited with bringing competition to the Australian home lending industry.

The company was unique in its approach to home loans, offering 24 hours a day service and loans far cheaper than those offered by banks.

In 1994 Aussie introduced the securitisation of home loans, allowing it to offer loans upwards of 3% cheaper than its competitors. Symonds has been acknowledged as an astute business person and a generous caring man and has received many awards.

RSVP to the event is essential by COB Monday, May 5, 2014. Email to merrylandsCBD@live.com.au or contact Mariya on 0417 046 665. Tickets are $25 for Chamber Members and $30 for guests.
