Mr Mehan met with association president Tony King this month to throw his support behind the association’s petition calling for extra police on our streets.
Mr Mehan said a recently released Productivity Commission report revealed that police numbers on the Coast are just over half of the state average.
On average NSW has 239 police officers for every 100,000 citizens – here on the Coast we have around 122 police per 100,000 citizens.
Mr Mehan also noted that the Central Coast received only 1 of 480 graduates from the Goulburn academy in 2018.
He said details obtained through a Freedom of Information request showed police numbers had decreased on the /coast since 2011, as had police support staff.
