MAKING IT EASIER TO START UP

Council hosts innovation forums
DALLAS SHERRINGHAM

IN an excellent innovation for small business in our region, Central Coast Mayor Jane Smith has hosted two forums designed to make it easy for owners to start their own enterprise.

Business people also were given a taste of why NSW is the easiest state to do business in at the forums hosted by Central Coast Council, together with Business Chambers and the NSW Small Business Commissioner.

Council is now officially a ‘Small Business Friendly Council,’ partnering with Service NSW to deliver its ground-breaking and innovative Easy to do Business program on the Central Coast.

The program dramatically eases the regulatory burden for current and new businesses by cutting through the red tape with numerous agencies at all levels of government.

The program simplifies and streamlines applications through an online business portal at Service NSW, and is a free service that offers specialised advice from a business concierge who will help current and new business owners to navigate the complexities of starting or growing their business.

“I’m really pleased that we can bring this smart and innovative program to the Central Coast”, Mayor Smith said.

“Small business is absolutely vital for our local economy – and provides great job opportunities for our young people.

“Freeing up time and effort for small business gives owners breathing space to get back to what they do best – running their businesses and providing great service to the community.

“I strongly encourage businesses right across the Coast to take advantage of this free program.”

NSW Small Business Commissioner Robyn Hobbs OAM, a champion for small business within government, was on hand to advocate her three Cs for success along with local Business Chambers and Service NSW.

“The secret to success for small business is the three Cs working together – Council, Chambers and the community,” Ms Hobbs said.

A key message from the forum was that there are resources there to help small businesses start and grow- to deal with financial security, cash flow, employing people and growing.

Feedback from the forum was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees asking to make it a regular occurrence on the Coast.
