President Stig Falster was presented with the plaque for the best Local Chamber of Commerce at the recent NSW Business Chamber’s North Eastern Sydney Awards at a gala dinner at the Kirribilli Club.
“The Award is recognition for the hard work done by the Board over many years and the initiatives that have come from it,” Mr Falster said.
Established in 1921, Chatswood Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest chambers in Australia, servicing a membership of large, medium and small businesses in the Willoughby City Council local government area (LGA), covering Chatswood, Roseville, Artarmon, Chatswood East, Willoughby, Lane Cove and Chatswood West.
The Chamber provides support services to its membership, including the Business Confidence Survey, from which analytical statistics are drawn to assist with future planning and in making representations to Council.
Mr Falster said the Chamber is also deeply embedded in its local community – engaging via events such as the Budget Breakfasts, the Chatswood Spring Fair, and its charity initiative “Chatswood Sleeps Rough”.
The Region’s top honour, the 2016 Business of the Year, was won by marine engineering and naval architecture company, Incat Crowther, which also took out the Excellence in Innovation Award.
“The 2016 North Eastern Sydney Business Awards showcase the diverse array of talent in the Region’s business community and this year the competition was particularly tough,” NSW Business Chamber Deputy President, Nola Watson, explained
“This year’s winners should feel incredibly proud to be named as the Region’s leading businesses for 2016, and we wish them every success as they continue to represent the North Eastern Sydney Region at the NSW Business Chamber State Business Awards later this year.”
