NSW Open returns to Castle Hill Country Club

THE historic NSW Open Golf Championship returns to metropolitan Sydney for the first time since 2006 when the tournament is played at Castle Hill Country Club from November 21 – 24, 2013.

The announcement of the dates for the NSW Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia schedule is further good news for the golf industry which has been buoyed by Adam Scott’s Masters victory, a further four international victories over the last few months and the World Cup of golf being staged at Royal Melbourne.

Still one of the leading golf tournaments contested in Australia, the NSW Open will be proudly hosted by Castle Hill Country Club, one of Sydney’s premier and picturesque tournament venues, and among the top 100 golf courses in Australia.

Golf NSW CEO, Stuart Fraser said: “We have worked hard to return the NSW Open to Sydney and the Castle Hill Country Club golf course will present a rewarding challenge for the players.”

“We look forward to some of Australia’s best golfers competing in this historical tournament and working closely with Castle Hill Country Club to stage the most successful and memorable tournament yet.”

Castle Hill Country Club general manager, Melissa Ellis said the NSW Open Golf will be an exciting showcase event for the Hills district.

“Not only will international and national golfers be competing but the club will be creating a lifestyle village with junior practice nets, gourmet food offerings, on course cafes and other entertainment for children.

“So the entire family can come along and enjoy the spectacular setting at Castle Hill with free entry and free parking.

“Whilst the event has already secured some well-known companies as sponsors, we are also keen to further involve local businesses in a sponsorship capacity,” Melissa said.”

With an honour roll that reads like a who’s who of golf, past champions include Kel Nagle, Peter Thomson, Greg Norman and Jack Newton while more recently Peter O’Malley, Peter Lonard, Aaron Townsend and Adam Crawford have claimed the title.

The NSW Open will be held the week prior to the Australian Open at The Royal Sydney Golf Club, and is expected to lure some of the leading golf professionals to compete for the famous trophy.
