New Costco site

COSTCO has purchased a 59,830-square-metre site in Sydney Business Park at Marsden Park for an undisclosed sum. The site is earmarked for retail development.

Woolies pre-commitment

WOOLWORTHS has pre-committed to leasing 4,000 square metres of space at the Ponds Shopping Centre on the corner of The Ponds Boulevard and Riverbank Drive, at Blacktown, The supermarket space has been leased from Australand at undisclosed terms.

Business park opened

RAY Williams, Parliamentary Secretary for Western Sydney, officially opened the new 256-hectare master-planned Sydney Business Park development, located in Marsden Park, which will provide17,000 new jobs for the region as well as supporting by an injection of approximately $350 million in new infrastructure to the area.

$45.4 million investment

WASSHINGTON H Soul Patterson and Company has invested $45.4 million in distribution centres in Erskine Park and Brendale, north-west of Brisbane. Long-term lease agreements have been signed with Super Retail Group Limited.

Artisan-style products

AUSTRALIA’S largest baker, Goodman Fielder, is manufacturing a new brand of “artisan-style” products at its $20 million, warehouse, distribution and manufacturing facility at Erskine Park.

OfficeMax to relocate

OFFICE supplies group, OfficeMax, expects to relocate from Chullora later this year after signing on as a tenant in a $26 million office and warehouse facility in Australand’s Eastern Creek Business Park.

South West Dexus buys facility

DEXUS Wholesale Property Fund has purchased 4 Inglis Road, Ingleburn for $34.35 million. The 43,442-square-metre distribution facility has been purchased on yield reflecting 13.5%.

Nepean sells for $6.67million

SLOANEBUILT Trailers has purchased the 34,790-square-metre industrial property, at 21-23 Dunn Road, Smeaton Grange, for $6.67 million, from Nepean Engineering. Sold for $3.8 million GOW Street Bankstown Pty Ltd has sold a 7406-square-metre freehold industrial property in Canterbury Road, Bankstown, for $3.8 million at auction.

Appointment to arts council

KHOA Do, a film director, screenwriter, professional speaker and a University of Sydney law and arts graduate, has been appointed to the Australia Council. The Do family arrived in Sydney as Vietnamese refugees in 1980. In 2000, he was awarded the Young Vietnamese-Australian of the Year Award for his services in drama and working with youths in Sydney's south-west.

Quickstep appointment

CARBON composites manufacturer, Quickstep Holdings Limited, based at Bankstown Airport, has appointed Nigel Ampherlaw as an independent non-executive director of the company.

EOI called for sites

URBANGROWTH NSW, based in Parramatta, is considering expressions of interest for the development  and delivery in the 24-hectare Edmondson Park Town Centre and the 102-hectare Menangle Park Precinct 300. The Edmondson Park site is zoned mixed use with the potential for more than 900 dwellings and up to 45,000 square metres of retail and commercial space. The Mengangle Park site has the potential for more than 850 dwellings. UrbanGrowth NSW is the trading name of Landcom. 

Central West Attendance at Sydney Festival

SOME 7000 people attended the major event, Urban, in the Sydney Festival’s program, at the Parramatta Riverside Theatres.

Promotion of projects

PARRAMATTA Riverside Theatres has welcomed back Anne Louise Wirth back to the venue’s marketing team for three-days a week to manage a number of marketing projects.

Sold for $55 million

PRIMEWEST has purchased the 32,347-square-metre bulky goods centre, Auburn Homemaker Megamall, on Parramatta Road at Auburn, for $55 million, from AMP Capital and Unisuper. Pedestrian bridge to go PARRAMATTA City Council has approved the demolition of the existing pedestrian bridge between the former David Jones building, at 330 Church Street (the Meriton Apartments project) and the multi-story car park fronting the Parramatta River.

Nine-storey building

PARRAMATTA City Council has approved the demolition and construction of a nine-storey mixed use development, at 2 Sorrell Street, containing a ground floor commercial tenancy and function centre and 72 residential apartments over basement carparking.

$2.4 million for research

MACQUARIE University has received over $2.4 million in Australian Research Council funding for 10 research projects including reducing infection in hospitals, preventing anxiety and depression in girls and environmental conservation and rehabilitation. Researchers will partner with industry, business and community organisations in collaborations to drive innovation and deliver outcomes and solutions to benefit all Australians.
